New concept of acupuncture, Sustain Community Acupuncture, opens in North Park/Hillcrest area

San Diego, CA, Oct 15th, 2009-San Diego’s North Park will soon be home to Sustain Community Acupuncture, a Traditional Chinese Medicine wellness center offering healing acupuncture and clinical massage treatments in a therapeutic and eco-friendly setting.
The holistic health care center is scheduled to open November 1st, 2009. Masterful Practitioners will perform therapies to meet a wide range of medical needs in this inviting, eco-friendly clinic.
“We hope to introduce the healing methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine to the public by making it affordable while maintaining an atmosphere of personal service,” said Dave Mckinnon, co-founder of Sustain Community Acupuncture. “We want to make our clients’ experience as comfortable and fulfilling as possible and are looking forward to being a part of the North Park and Hillcrest communities.”
To make services affordable, Sustain employs a community model in which patients are treated, fully clothed, in a common area. This model is traditional in China and conveys a number of benefits.
The group dynamic creates a sense of shared healing, which offers patients increased emotional support and generates optimism and enthusiasm for the process. In addition, the practitioner is able to remain in the room with the patient, so assistance is available immediately if the patient needs it.
Sustain’s treatment lounge features comfortable reclining chairs, soft lighting, ambient spa sounds and relaxing music to create an environment where patients can find deep relaxation and inner harmony. A separate intake room is always available for those who wish discuss their medical issues with additional privacy
In addition to acupuncture and massage therapy, Sustain Community Acupuncture will provide a multitude of services throughout the facility. Herbal consultation and medicine, nutritional and stop-smoking counseling, weight loss and detoxification programs, as well as health education will all be made readily available to clients.
The wellness center, adorned with plush couches and soft toned walls, will feature “Free First Fridays” in which anyone may come in for a free acupuncture treatment once per month after an initial start-up fee of $15.
The center will be open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday for all treatments and services.
