May 21 – 22 Free Acupuncture at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life at Liberty Station: You can read more and get more information here: This is a great way to help research, promote awareness or join the Sustain team to walk for the cure. I am looking for people to sign up and come out and walk for 1 hour during the 24 hour period. Sign up online at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/SustainAcu. Instead of fundraising, I want to invite people out to get a free acupuncture treatment and to ask them to donate a little money for that treatment. Whatever you can spare as great. During the day there will be lots of music, food, entertainment, education and awards to recognize survivors and their families. Please take the time to come out to Liberty station on Saturday May 21.
New Practitioners:
We have three great new practitioners at the clinic. This is helping us expand our hours and meet the needs of out patients. You can see the complete list of practitioners here.
Melissa Batten L.Ac.
Jeanne Corso L.Ac.
Jeanne Corso L.Ac. received her first acupuncture treatment in 1979, and soon thereafter began her own studies in the field of holistic medicine. Beginning with massage and kinesiology, she later studied Traditional Chinese Medicine, graduating from the California Acupuncture College and becoming licensed to practice in 1987. For the last 18 years she has specialized in the treatment of addiction, working in recovery homes and treatment facilities throughout the county, and she is a member of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). She is also very successful in the treatment of pain, stress, female complaints, and mental/emotional issues such as anxiety and depression.
A warm, compassionate and intuitive healer, patients find Jeanne very easy to talk to. Her treatments are gentle and precise. She utilizes auricular acupuncture (using points on the ear) in addition to meridian-based points. Jeanne is a great believer in the community model of acupuncture, and has long believed that treatments should be affordable – therefore more accessible to the general population.

Maple-Sage Beef Jerky Recipe
Robb Wolf at robbwolf.com dropped this recipe on his website this last week. It is a delicious jerky recipe by Diane Sanfilippo of balancedbites.com.
Please check out the full recipe here and visit our friends sites to support them and for more information on the Paleo Diet.
Ingredients
2 lbs of grass-fed beef – still partially frozen for easier slicing (you want a lean cut with easily visible striations – I typically use london broil)
2 Tbsp organic apple cider vinegar
2 Tbsp cocnut Amino’s
2 Tbsp maple syrup- organic, grade B (or use honey if you prefer)
1 Tbsp sage sea salt – see my herb salt recipe here
(or use approx 1 tsp each dried sage & sea salt)
1/2 Tsp garlic powder
Dash of black pepper (more if you like it)
2 Tbsp warm water
Note: The marinade should be made to-taste, test the flavor before applying to your sliced meat. I find it to be a pretty strong taste just on a spoon/finger dip but that flavor dilutes once over the meat, so you want it to be fairly strong in the marinade. The measurements here are approximate and will vary based on your preferences!
