What is WATSU?
It combines elements of massage, joint mobilization, shiatsu, muscle stretching
and dance. The receiver is continuously supported while being floated, cradled, rocked and stretched. The deeply relaxing effects of warm water and nurturing support allows for a bodywork with a wide range of therapeutic benefits and potential for healing on many levels. WATSU® is used around the world by professional body workers and physical therapists!
What can it treat?
Being supported in warm water is an ideal medium for freeing the spine. It takes the weight off of the vertebrate and allows the spine to be moved in ways that are impossible on land. WATSU movements create space in the joints and relax muscle tissue. Warm water is also an ideal medium to allow for gentle stretching and twists which free up tension on the nerves. Any chronic issue may be addressed. It is also beneficial for physical recovery after surgery or an injury. Pregnant women find relief in the water and enjoy the freedom of movement. It may also help with stress of any kind, fatigue, anxiety, fibromyalgia, PTSD, and ADHD.
My experience:
In the water, I have over 500 hours of WATSU, WATSU Explore Flow and Water Dance training. As a WATSU Practitioner I am continuously taking different WATSU courses to enhance my technique. I am also a Certified Massage Therapist in the state of Hawaii and California. My focus is with Asian modalities (Thai, Shiatsu, Tui Na, and Jin Shin Do). My studies have brought me to many places including: Hawaii, Thailand, India, BC Canada, California and Florida. Here in San Diego, I am finishing a Masters Program for Chinese Medicine!
